Why is my dog so stupid?

My dog, sometimes is well dumb. It will sit out in the middle of a yard in a thunderstorm. I call it in, it comes about half way to the house, then turns around and goes back to where it was, I end up having to go out and get her. She knows how to go out a doggy door but she doesn’t "know" how to come back in one. There are times when I bring her in, where she will bite my hand and won’t let go until she is inside, yes she hangs on my hand until she is inside.

I have taken her to obedience school, trained her myself, but still, she acts so stupid sometimes. Why is this?
