To what extent can a rottweiler be trained to be social and not hostile?

I am considering buying a rottie, but I do not want a monster dog. I understand that rotties have an aggressive nature (correct me if I am wrong) and I am willing to take enough time to train it to be more friendly toward other people and animals.

So is it possible to achieve this goal and what tips can you give on this one?

Another question is, at what age can I send the dog to obedience lessons where other dogs will attend, so it would socialize, is about 7 months a good age to do that?
Also can a rottweiler live in an apartment. We have a very big yard, but after 4 years I am moving to another country and I will be in an apartment.
I see that many people misunderstood me.

First of all I am currently living in a giant yard for the next 4 years minimum. Also I am 100% committed to training a dog and spending time with it and socializing it, so this is no problem.
And before I forget, is it a very bad idea to get it when it is about 2 months old during winter if it is living in the yard outside. Temperature varies between -2 Celsius and 15 Celsius

  • Greek God AKA Greekman says:

So long as you choose the right dog with the right genetics, first and foremost, you will have no problems. There are no monster rotties anymore, all that has been bred out of their system by moron breeders.
Training should start the day you get the dog and socializing one does NOT mean having it spend time with other dogs, it means exposing it to every day life. Hope I helped!
