Are there any certifications or regulations nationally or statewide that I can check? Should they be a member of some professional organization of dog trainers? Would "bad" ones be listed with the BBB? What if they use shock collars or other pain methods to train the dog?

the only dog training jobs I can find are petsmart and petco. Are there any other places that offer jobs to dog trainers? you can include other pet stores that offer dog training jobs except the aforementioned ones. (10pts for best answer)

Can a famous and distinguishable dog trainer like Cesar Milan train a male dog that’s not neutured to calmly sit still next to a female dog in heat for a long time and not yelp and whine? Is it possible? I only hear about dog trainers and vets instructing to separate the dogs when the female dog is in heat. What about training the male dog to resist the urge of a female dog in heat and behave itself calmly?

I have been told to get a purebred dog and train then show it. What would be a good choice of breed for a beginner?

I am only 14, but I am doing a career project and need some more details. I'm thinking about doing this job part-time when I get older because I know dog trainers don't get paid much.

And when I say dog trainer I mean any kind of training whether it's service or police dogs, obedience, or tricks.

I am learning the ropes of dog training at a local place, and I would really like to become a service/assistance dog trainer someday. But from what I have heard, it is more of a volunteer service, or a weekend hobby, etc.

Are there any service dog trainers out there (or anyone that may know a trainer) that might be able to tell me, can I do this as a full-time job? If not, I still plan to pursue this, but I would need to think about another possible career path that pays enough $ to live on.

I'm interested in taking courses to become a professional dog trainer/dog behaviorist, but only one college in my area provides anything, and it's just a basic "animal behavior" class (I intend to take it, but I definitely need more training). Any advice is appreciated, especially from dog trainers.
