This needs a lot of effort but dogs are smart and soon catch on as long as you are consistent. Choose a toilet command word (I use "Go on" but anything will do as long as you use it consistently.

Keep an eye on your puppy, if they drop their bottom or look like they are going to go (usually they lift tail and arch their back dropping the hind quarters (back legs, pick them up and put them outside on the area you have chosne to be the toilet patch. Repeat the cue word - if they do it then lots of praise strokes etc. if they don’t manage then no problem don’t make a fuss of them and return them back to where they were.

If you miss the signal and they go where they shouldn’t then don’t get angry or hit them or shout, just pick them up put them ouside on the designated spot and repeat the cue word.

This takes a lot of effort and concentration but they will crack it soon. The important times to look out for are first thing in the morning when they wake up (let them out of their cage and take them to the loo), just after eating, when giving the I’m about to go signals.

Remeber, only give them the cue once or twice, if they happen to go then repeat the cue word and give lots of praise.

it will work - stick with it.
